SUMMARY:Longacres Racetrack apple harvest
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an apple harvest at Longacres Racetrack — the site of a historic horse racetrack in Renton! The property is home to around 120 apple trees\, many at least 30 years old and used historically to feed some of the resident racetrack horses! If pest free\, the apples harvested from the property will be distributed to local area food banks and meal programs! Undersized or pest damaged fruit will be processed into apple sauce and cider. All volunteers are welcome to take a bag of apples home with them at the end of the event! \nPlease make sure to bring your mask and we will supply the necessary tools all sanitized and ready to go! DESCRIPTION:Join City Fruit and the McAuliffe Park Team for a harvest and orchard clean-up event! We will be taking a pest-prevention net off of one of the apple trees\, harvesting remaining apples\, and picking up windfall apples off the orchard floor to mitigate against insect and rodent pests. High quality\, pest-free apples will be shared with local area food banks and meal programs.
