DESCRIPTION:New fruit trees are in! \nJoin us for a mulching and companion planting event at Troll’s Knoll Orchard! In order to ensure these new trees are supported and grow healthy fruit down the line\, we will be adding mulch and accompanying companion plants to the space for optimal growth support. We will supply the necessary tools all sanitized and ready to go! And like always\, come prepared for rain or shine–dressed in closed toed shoes and clothes you are comfortable getting potentially a little dirty! Please note that this can be a physically demanding activity\, we’ll be using wheelbarrows and 5-gallon buckets to transport mulch onto the sloped planting site. \nSign-up to volunteer here: https://timecounts.org/city-fruit/opportunities/events

SUMMARY:Lincoln High School Climate Justice Group volunteer fruitlet thinning\, bagging\, and netting at the Good Shepherd Center
DESCRIPTION:Thinning your fruitlets is a critical springtime tree care task to encourage the production of larger\, high-quality fruit and to reduce the risk of branches breaking on older trees from the weight.  Netting and/or bagging a branch of your tree or the entirety of the tree can help mitigate against winter codling moth and apple maggot fly damage. \nA group of student volunteers from Lincoln High School’s Climate Justice Group will be supporting City Fruit and the Seattle Historical Society with some apple fruitlet thinning and tree netting at the Good Shepherd Center!
