SUMMARY:Processing excess fruit at City Fruit office
DESCRIPTION:With the harvest season in full swing\, City Fruit has an abundance of fruit! Currently\, many of our partner food banks are at their capacity for accepting certain fruit donations\, so we are looking for alternative ways to store and utilize the fruit! \nThis volunteer session would involve de-pitting and halving fruit so that they can be frozen and stored for future use. Later use includes: 1) Processing the frozen fruit into jams and jellies; and 2) Donation of the frozen fruit to fruit distribution partners in the fall when they have increased storage capacity. \nWe welcome volunteers to drop by to help process fruit from 10 am – 3 pm on 08/29 and 8/30.  Please email Tiare at tiare@cityfruit.org to share which day you would like to help and for how long!
