Tree Care Services: Supporting Your Tree's Health, Sharing our Knowledge

City Fruit's Tree Care Services program is a unique opportunity to receive expert tree care from our Fruit Tree Specialist who has specifically studied and trained in caring for fruit tree health and production. In addition, our Fruit Tree Specialist works with tree owners to provide the knowledge they need to continue to care for their fruit trees throughout the year. Not only can tree owners receive personalized tree assessments and care strategies, but they will also be supporting the continued growth of City Fruit's harvest program! Fill out the Tree Care Service Interest Form below to request a service. At this time, City Fruit can provide services in Greater Seattle. For homes that go beyond our service area, we may still be able to provide support, but must also factor in travel time costs that vary depending on your specific address.

Tree Care Service Options

City Fruit's Fruit Tree Specialist will prune and train your fruit tree in order to improve its health and productivity. Summer pruning is great for shaping and reducing the size of a tree, identifying and removing dead/dying branches, and thinning trees which are overproducing, whereas late winter pruning can promote growth in young trees and causes less stress in the trees. Depending what you want from your tree, we can help to determine when is best to prune.

Fee:  $85/hr, one-hour minimum (includes the commute time from the office or previous job). Most fruit trees require between one and two hours pruning in the summer season.

 * While we will thoroughly clean up after pruning, we are unable to take trimmings off-site.

If you provide the mulch, our Fruit Tree Specialist can help you prepare the mulch ring and lay the mulch for you. Please be sure you have enough mulch to cover 3-6" of the diameter of your tree's drip line. For more information, go to

Fee:  $85/hr, one-hour minimum (includes the commute time from the office or previous job).

We will cover and seal your tree to protect the fruit from apple maggot and codling moth. This is done for pest prevention of coddling moth and apple maggot, which are often seen in apples and Asian Pears. For best results the tree should be netted before the end of May (for apples) or June (for pears). Netting must be provided by the tree owner. Visit the Save Seattle’s Apples page for more info.

Fee:  $85/hr, one-hour minimum (includes the commute time from the office or previous job).

Tree Care Assessment and Action Plan

This service is meant to provide tree owners with a thorough understanding of the health of one's trees, as well as which local factors may be influencing the health of the tree through an on-site consultation. A tree assessment will take a look at every zone of the tree from its roots to the top of the canopy. From there, City Fruit will develop a simple to follow, customized action plan for a tree owner to follow in order to improve the health of the tree. The summer months are best for assessing your fruit trees when both fruit and foliage are available for analysis.

Fee:  $85/hr, one-hour minimum (includes the commute time from the office or previous job).

NEW! Tree Love Comprehensive Tree Care Plan

Tree Love starts with a consultation or initial assessment of your tree and then an individualized service plan we design with you that can include pruning, mulching, netting, other integrated pest management, harvesting, or gleaning/cleanup offered at different times of the year.

Fee:  Up to five hours of services are included for a flat fee of $375 for your first tree (an average of $75/hr, instead of standard $85 fee) with each additional tree on your property getting the same year-round service for only $175 more!*

*Services are for trees under 18’. Beyond this height, our specialist will have to make an assessment of whether the tree’s top can be easily and safely accessed with City Fruit's equipment.
